Originally from Georgia, I have lived in several states in the southeast as well as Texas. My dad’s work required many moves while growing up. My brother lived in Asheville, so I ended up moving here in the mid 70’s. I started out as an early childhood education major at UNC-Asheville but transferred and completed my education in interior design.
My career was primarily with Tyson Furniture Company for 19 years as the Floor/Display Designer responsible for maintaining over 80,000 square feet of showroom space. A fun and satisfying job, but after having children, I yearned to have completed my education degree.
Another benefit in moving to the area was meeting my husband Jeff. He is from western North Carolina and is now retired. Our marriage is almost 37 years and counting. We have two grown daughters, a great son-in-law, and one little grandson less than two years old. As others have shared prior to having a grandchild, there is nothing like them! They bring much joy, as well as new beginnings.
My spare time is filled with gardening, nature watching, walking, hiking and working out in the lovely pool here at Cheshire. As well, I have developed an interest in trying different recipes and hopefully eating more healthily in the process. We all like to travel, so I am working on that too with an upcoming trip to Scotland.
A best part of working in the Kids Zone at Cheshire is just being with your children. Each little person is unique and fun to be with. I desire for them to feel comfortable and enjoy their time while away from their parents. I look forward in getting to know your children.
